Description:

This advanced diploma will prepare you to write the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) examination and become qualified as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). If you already have a degree in athletic therapy, kinesiology or osteopathy, you can complete this program even faster. earn to help others manage pain, increase mobility and improve quality of life. You'll study various theoretical and practical areas of massage therapy, including functional anatomy, pathology and a wide range of massage applications and techniques. You'll then work with real-world patients, completing 330 supervised hours in our on-campus clinic and another 320 hours during field placements.

    Program eligibility:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:
    • One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) 
    • Biology, Grade 11 or 12 (C or U) 
    • Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (PSK4U) and/or Exercise Science (PSE4U) or equivalent recommended. 

    OR

    • Mature student status 
    • If you're at least 19 years old and missing any of the requirements above, you can meet these requirements by applying as a mature student. Mature students may be required to complete tests in English, math and/or science or take a FREE preparatory course through Sheridan's Academic Upgrading program.

    Applicant selection

    • Eligible applicants are selected based on academic achievement, using the average GPA of their six highest grades, including the required courses listed above.
    • Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program may be advised individually regarding other related programs.

      Students will be required to provide additional documentation directly to their field placement before the start of the placement and at their own expense. Sheridan field placement agencies may require a police record check for criminal offences, a vulnerable sector check and/or a current acceptable record of immunization.
